[Furukawashiko] Black Cat Kissaten Matchbook memo box
$500
The Showa Era (1926-89) in Japan introduced the birth of “kissaten” — a term that directly translates to “a place to drink tea”. Kissaten is recognized as a traditional coffee shop, cozy and dimly lit with light classical music or jazz typically playing in the background for a distinct feel.
Sadly, the traditional kissaten in Japan are quickly disappearing due to lack of customers and the preference of modern cafes, in addition to aging owners who have no one to carry on their family business.
This Retro Diary series features a “Black Cat Coffee” printed design inspired by Japan’s kissaten culture.
