[Shinzi Katoh] Walking Literature series: Snow Woman (Yuki-Onna) by Koizumi Yakumo
$450
The Snow Woman (Yuki-Onna is the title in Japanese) will always be a story from my childhood as I remember being so frightened in the way that my mother would tell the story. Written by Koizumi Yakumo (birth name Patrick Lafcadio Hearn before legally changing his name with Japanese citizenship), The Snow Woman story is of a woodcutter who gets lost in the woods and encounters a strikingly beautiful woman in a white kimono and pale skin. It is a bittersweet love story in that the woman turns out to be a ghost spirit and the story has been published with various adaptations.
