Kokeshi are beautiful wood dolls that have been a part of Japanese culture since the Edo period, often symbolizing protection. There are many stories of how Kokeshi dolls were first created — one of which being that craftsmen would use any leftover wood pieces to then carve dolls on various shapes and sizes.
