[forme] Kyoto Cafe Tour: ソワレ · Soiree Collection
Pronounced Soiree — from the French word translating to "evening party"— ソワレ is a must visit in Kyoto for a truly unique and elegant cafe experience. The cafe first opened in 1948 and the structure has stunning craftsmanship of hand wood carving detailing of grapes, sunflowers and other accents inspired by European aesthetic. It also displays paintings including “Girl with the Ribbon” by artist Seiji Togo.
Jelly punch is what ソワレ is famous for — a dessert made by the cafe founder’s wife, Naruko Motoki. She invented this dessert recipe because her daughter had a strong aversion to milk and wanted to make a dessert that didn’t require dairy. So, she created jelly punch — which consists of transparent jelly served in a glass dish with an overlap of red, blue, yellow, green and purple colors that sparkle in the blue light interior.
