Description
"When I eat a persimmon, the bell rings at Hōryū-ji Temple" — this is a famous haiku by mater poet Masaoka Shiki (1867-1902), who had thousands of short poetry during his lifetime.  The city of Matsuyama in Ehime prefecture (where he was born) in Japan continues to hold an international haiku contest in his honor.
